3 Tips To Make Money From Email Marketing
Alvin Phang
del.icio.us it! | reddit it! | stumble it!

If you have been doing Internet Marketing, you would know that the money is in the list. But it’s not the number of people you want in the list, to be more accurate the money is in a hyper active list. Simply put, if you have 1,000 people in your email database. The number of people who actively open your emails are the ones that make money not the number of people in your list.

Just recently, during the launch of Atomic Blogging 2.0. I had a couple of friends whose list was a size of 10,000. However, what I realized only a handful of them actually were active which is only about 500. So what happen to the rest of the 9,500? Well they are so called dead list!

In email marketing, it is really important for you to actively keep your list updated with information at least once every 2 weeks in order to keep it active. So what I am going to share with you is tips on how you can make your list more active.

Tip 1 - Send Out Regular Email Updates

If you are on my email list, you would know I normally sent out email newsletter at least once every 3 to 4 days (sometimes more). The reason I do that is not only to get a closer relationship with my readers but also to keep them active reading my stuff.

Just by keeping your readers active with you, you actually make people remember who you are and want to learn more from you. The more you are able to keep a reader connected to you, the more you will be able to sell later on :)

Tip 2 - Always Have A Call To Action In Your Emails

When you are sending out emails to your readers, you would only want to keep to only one type of call to action in your emails. It can be a call to action to ask them to go to a website, or maybe reply to a survey question. The thing is you are only allow to have ONE CALL TO ACTION! Do not put so many things in one email because that will confused your reader.

Tip 3 - Keep Your Emails Short And Simple

You will be surprised that a handful of people always only read the 1st 2 paragraphs of any email sent out by me. How do I know that it’s because there are times, I put the important information in the 6th paragraph and I get lots of people sending me emails to ask about the details I mention in the email.

The best is keep your emails short about 4 paragraphs especially when you are recommending a product to someone online and keep only about 7 words per line in your emails with not more then 5 lines per paragraph.

I have had limited success in the past with email marketing, it may have been due to the quality of the mailing list. Can you reccomend any sites that sell high quality lists? Thanks,

You are right keeping paragraphs short, so that when people see they won’t feel like they going to read a long message. Alvin may be you can add this - If making a spelling or grammatical error, don’t worry about fixing it(within reason of course) people who read the message will feel like you are writing to them, not like those spam mail that look all like the same …

Alvin,
You have said

….I highly recommend you get a free auto responder account by clicking here….

But, I try to sign Up for an account, I guess its a paid service. I was wondering if there is any free Auto Responder I can use. I’m just starting out, so it would be few months before I can afford Aweber or GetResponse.

Alvin, I am intrigued by your idea to have 1 call to action in each email.

I have a pretty big email list, but almost never put a call to action because I mail them every day in the form of blog update articles from my blog. But what you say above makes me feel like I’m wasting effort and DO need calls to action.

Do you recommend a different call to action each email? Or do you have a series of calls to action rotate in and out? Or some other method?

To get the maximum results from your emails.. you only want to have one action to action in your email…

So let say you are promoting http://www.GatherSuccess.com. At the links in your emails will be pointed to that link. And you also want to repeat the same link at least 2 or 3 times as some users are lazy to scroll up to click the link.

Normally I put one at the 1st paragraph and another at the PS.

You can do different call to action in each email. If it’s a blog update just email them just a link in your update. But to leverage your efforts of updating your customers you can also sell in your PS column by providing a one time offer in your PS.

You can subscribe to my newsletter and you will see how I send out emails :)
