8 Great Tips On Getting More Readers For Your Blog
If you’re new to blogging, you will soon realize that a blog needs traffic to survive. Even more experienced bloggers have struggled with gaining a large enough readership to justify their work. This article will examine eight tried and true methods to get more readers to your pages.
Forums
New and old blogs alike can benefit from forums. However, you must utilize them ethically and legitimately. Find forums that relate to your niche. Sign up and begin to participate by adding real value to the conversations. Add a link to your blog in your signature so every time you post, you have the ability to get more traffic.
Guest Blogging
This is another great way to get more readers to your blog. When you make a guest post on a more well-known blog, you can link back to your own blog. Find a blog in your niche and contact the owner. Find out if they would be interested in hosting a guest post. You could also keep your eye on prominent blogs in your niche. Sometimes they will advertise for guest posters.
Advertising
There are plenty of paid advertising options out there such as Google Adsense. If you are on a shoestring budget, you can utilize various free methods of advertising. Try trading links with other blogs in your niche or participating in a banner exchange. You can even post a free classified ad online or in a local print paper.
Blog Reviews
Having your blog reviewed on another website is a surefire way to get more readers. The best way to accomplish this is to encourage your current readers to review your blog on their own site. You can also look for blogs that review other blogs in your niche. Performing a Google search using the words “review my blog” will probably garner numerous results.
Quality Content
The best way to ensure your readers stay on board and that they pass on your posts to friends is to write quality content. Optimizing your content for search engines will also help gain more traffic. Remember, having a blog filled with content is useless if the content doesn’t help or inform your readers in some way.
Twitter is one of the greatest things to happen to internet marketing in the past decade. Sign up and begin following people who have an interest in your niche. Once you have gained a large following yourself, you can alert all of your followers to new blog posts or even older ones you think might be of interest.
Social Bookmarking
Sign up for social bookmarking sites such as digg, delicious, and stumble upon. Bookmark each of your blog posts as you post them. This simple method will increase your traffic literally overnight. For ease of use, try an all-in-one bookmarking site like Social Marker that allows you to bookmark your posts to several sites at once.
Directories
Submit your blog and RSS feed to directories. If you can afford it, Yahoo and Dmoz will get the most traffic to your blog. If you’re working on a tight budget, there are a plethora of free blog directories out there and you’ll get great results from them.
