del.icio.us it! | reddit it! | stumble it!

Blogging has been around for years, I started building this blog since Oct 2006 and back then there were only 55 millions blogs around the world. Two years later in 2008, there are well over 115 million blogs online tracked by Technorati and it growing at a rapid rate.

What was first known as a diary has really evolved to a whole new platform today. Some of the common platforms in blogging are as follow

  1. Entertainment Blogs
  2. Professional Blogs
  3. Profiling Blogs
  4. Marketing Blogs
  5. and so much more

Why You Should Be Setting Up A Blog

In today’s contacts, blogging is by far the most popular platform used by numerous SMEs and big companies all around the world to build better relationships with their customers. I have been blogging for well over close 2 years already and what I realized in blogging, you will get to connect to your readers much better then any form of website platform.

Advantages Of Having A Blog

It’s a fact that search engine loves blogs more then plain static sites, due to a simple fact that blogs updated more frequency compared to websites and search engine always loves fresh content. Here are a list of advantages and reasons why you should be blogging today.

  1. Search Engine Love Blogs
  2. Great Communication Tool To Interact With Your Customers
  3. Ability To Show Off Your Talents To The Global Market
  4. Helps To Position You As An Expect
  5. Many Free Templates To Implement
  6. Many Free Plugins and Tools To Implement
  7. and much more

Recommend Platform For Blogging

In the marketplace, the most commonly used platform that people use to create professional blogs is by using Wordpress. Wordpress is a free open source blogging platform which you can use to setup your blog site. On top of the well riched public support on the building the platform to be really stable, there are also thousands of free plugins and themes you can install to customized your blog.

What Should You Write On Your Blog?

There are many reasons why many people around the world setup blogs everyday, but to me blogging is not just a diary but a create communication tool you can use to sell affiliate products too. But the main problem that everyone faced when it comes to blogging is what topic should you write on your blog?

The perfect answer to that question is always do a research study of your market first before you decide on the topics you would love to write on your blog. You will require to find out more about the keyword phrases that your target audience typed on and basically just write topics on that :)

Alvin,
I am a MArketing Coach and am curious what you think about recommending the basic Wordpress free hosted account to people who want to get started blogging?
I have WP on my on host account so I can monetize it and also for the ping ability….but a small business just starting out what would you recommend?

I blog about marketing tools to make your marketing message stand out at http://www.TotalMarketingToolboxBlog.com

That’s not a really good idea, because the free online Wordpress account does not allow you to put affiliate links on your blog site.

Which means you cannot monetized from it, only a self hosted Wordpress blog can be monetized.

In addition to that, an online blog can be shut down at any time for any reason, or for no reason at all. Self hosted is the best way to go.

Hosting accounts are so cheap and so are domain names, so why would anyone want one of the free Blogs. They can also be shut down so easily. You just have no control. Finally, if you build your blog up
and turn it to at the very least 1k income per month, you can easily sell it. Its a piece of virtual real estate!!
So, forget the free ones!!

It amazes me how little businesses utilize blogs…I couldn’t imagine having a business though AND not having one - it would do so much for your business!

True, after more than 10 years on the web. Blogging has certainly made things different…very different.

Now it’s a community more than a one sided conversation :)

I like the positive scene here broz, keep it up!
