In every successful online business or blog that you will realized they all have one thing in common, they have their own domain names. Domains names are just basically a web address you use to represent how people can find your website online.

When choosing a domain name the main thing to consider is it easy to remember. There are a few types of domain names you can buy to use from and are a list of the different types of domain names.

1. Branding Domain Names – Domain name to brand yourself or business

Example:
I have a domain name at www.GatherSuccess.com which is used to brand my own blog.

2. SEO Domain Names – Domain names bought to favor search engines

Example:
Let’s say if you know that the keyword “Internet Marketing Blogging” has over 20,000 in demand and competition is only about 10,000 and you want to ranked yourself no.1 on search engines all you need to do is have the keyword in your domain name. So I would have a domain name like www.learninginternetmarketingblogging.com.

3. Affiliate Domain Name – Domain name to sell someone else product

Example:
This is a very sneaky way to sell people products which is to buy people’s domain names that looks like the original site. So for example you bought Atomic Blogging at www.AtomicBlogging.com you can also simply buy another domain name www.AtomicBlogging.net or www.AtomicBlog.com which also still directs to the same page to sell a product.

Although there are 3 types of domains you can purchase what you want to focus on first as a beginner would be to purchase branding domain name.

6. Never use words like FREE or any foul words in your domain name
