Here’s What I Did To Recover My US$400 Investment….

On the 10th September 2007, I paid US$400 for a review at this blog here. Hoping that the review will boost my sales on my product here instead it back fire and had no visible results.

During the past 5 days after the review, I was busy tracking and testing the out come of this review and was amazed the results was unlike what I thought as an advertiser. I was mainly tracking not only the hits but also the sales conversion from that review.

Simply being unhappy with the results, initially I wanted to post up the results on my blog but I had too much documented that I converted it into a ebook report instead. So after 6 days I publish a free report that can be found here and you can click here if you like to download the report.

Since Sunday while I was busy building up a FREE theme I am about to announced I was using my own FREE shorten URL service at http://hyperlink.to to track my results.

Here’s what I found out:

johnchowdownloads.jpg

I had a whopping 410 downloads since Sunday and on top of that I had bloggers from the blog sphere posting about the experience and issues I faced from the $400 experience.

Here’s are some of the post from other bloggers commenting on the 16 page report:
- John Chow Slammed In Free Report
- Another disgruntled John Chow ReviewMe customer
- John Chow Getting Slammed Again?
- Is a Paid Review Really Worth The Price of Admission?

Take this as also one of John’s evil plan as he was so famous for, I just took something really bad and leverage on something that everyone wanted to know and just share basically the failure I faced with a review on a review =) That report which took be 4 hours to do sure has paid off as traffic on this blog has boost to nearly an increase of 300% or not more because of the viral effect the report had on people ( That’s what I call thinking out of the box and being creative ).

Point learnt here, if you fail at something it is also good to share about it so that others will not fall into the same situation as you was before. And people from all ranges will start buzzing about you and this tactic actually does work as you see I just created a huge buzz about a guy who lost so much cash but I turn that failure into a blog buzz which now get lots of traffic from.

  3. Looks like you got a bit of publicity! Well done. So you have sold 400 copies of your product? Would you mind telling us how much profit that is?

    Hi Alvin,

I think your blog gathersuccess.com looks decent and credible. Readers can feel the sincerity of your posts and see that your technical expertise is real, even if your product pages look like those typical get-rich-quick ones.

Say if it’s Ewen Chia who paid the $400 review instead of you, with ewenchia.com looking like it is, I don’t think any blog or web experts would buy from him, because his homepage looks amateurish and scam-like.

    cheers :)
