Is Making Money Online Really Worth It?

I got this inspiration of writing this as I was on my way to meet a friend in a taxi. He was a really old guy about in his 60s and while waiting at a traffic light he did something that shocked me. He actually was counting the money he earn for taxi driving today. At the same time, he also complained about the recent increase in oil prices and that was really affecting his income.

So I naturally asked him, how many hours did you work just to cover his rent ( a day rental of taxi in Singapore is SG$96). He told him he need to drive from 7am to about 2pm just to earn enough to cover his rent and petrol (petrol was an additional $35). So I ask him further on how much he earns on a daily basics for working a whole day shift from 7am to 5pm and he told me about SG$40 to SG$50 per day (which took him 10 hours of working time).

If i were to take $50 one day that would be $1,500 a month for the taxi driver. The worst was, the taxi driver actually do not rest during weekends as they still do pay the rent regardless if they are resting or sick.

Here’s The Thing About Making Money

I know many people who ever tired making money online always love to complain it just simply do not work or they are not getting results. But most often if I just asked them how much time they spend on the business most would reply maybe 1 hour a day. But also, there were be a few who mention I spend 10 hours per day on online marketing but still get zero results.

The thing is I remember when I started, I took a total of 6 months of learning and failing before I made my first US$50 online. That first US$50 really woke me up and I knew from then on making money online was possible. Do note that getting that 1st cheque will never be a easy journey for anyone. Some people take maybe 8 months or even years just to make the 1st cheque.

The interesting part was once I knew what was the formula that I need to spend to make that amount of money. I was about to really calculate how much I like to earn online based on the amount of efforts.

So Is Making Money Online Really Worth It?

Well I would say for sure 100% yes! Why? Well after spending countless months learning and testing stuff, I have experience some days where I can make US$1,000+ in just one day. Comparing that with working 10 hours a day to make $50 as a taxi driver or in my paid job of $1,400 a month which you think is better?

I think the major problem here is that many people who jump onto online business always treat it as just a part time business. The truth is that it’s also a REAL BUSINESS and like any business it need really lots of time and effort to build it up.

How Many Hours Or Days Or Months Do You Need To Make 5 Figures Online?

I really hate it when people always ask me how much time I spend to make that amount of money. That’s because they fail to understand, doing Internet Marketing is NOT A JOB! It’s a business and do you think there is fix salary in a business? Does running a business have a per hour pay out? Well if you think about it, what you earn is purely based on amount of time and effort you spend!

There will be time you spend like 10 hours doing X traffic tactic and get US$10. There will be times you spend 10 hours doing another X traffic and you get US$500. The thing is that you would not know until you actually DO IT!

The key thing if you reading this and still not getting results, I highly recommend you start thinking about how much time you spend marketing your business then bother about understanding every damm new thing out there. If you just take my advice and focus your attention to do that one traffic tactic to drive traffic in just 7 days I can guaranteed you that you will get something out of it.

As the money starts to roll in you will find a secret formula to your own success and this can only be learn only through experiences and many failures. I hope this article will answer some of the many questions I get everyday about doubting if making money is really worth it. It’s only worth it if you are willing to commit the time and do the work :)

  1. Hey there Alvin,

That’s a great post, and certainly right on the money!

Since I grabbed your Atomic Blogging it really gave me a ton of insight on some excellent ways for grabbing more traffic.

I found an awesome place to be grabbing some excellent backlinks with good PR, and have started implementing some of your stuff.

Anyways, as far as the money goes. Yeah, the internet is a great place for making money as compared to a JOB. Had a great pretty darn good day yesterday.

    Thanx for the post…

    Cheers
    Davin

    Hey Alvin

Yes I enjoyed that article about the taxi driver. Many of us need to really know what’s out there in the real world to know that internet marketing is really not that tedious… especially if you enjoy it.

    Thanks for sharing…

    Hi Alvin,

I agreed that as the money starts to roll in, we will find a secret formula to our own success. When I received the first few dollars from the advertisers on my blog.. I know that things will continue to get better.

    Hi Alvin,

I like the part about the online business is like any other REAL BUSINESS. It surely is no “Get Rich Quick” or “Strike Lottery” kind of business where you will find $$ dropping from the sky.

I agree that like any other real business out there, anyone committed to it will find success if they keep at it and find their ’secret formula’ for themselves… by taking continuous massive action, and never afraid to fail.

    Thanks for sharing…

    Alvin,
Great post and right on the money! I have been into Internet Marketing about 8 months now and found one of my biggest problems was spending more time trying to get every piece of software I thought I had to have to run my business instead of running my business! I have recently decided to step back and start to focus on the “doing” instead of trying to analyze everything that’s put in front of my face and I have seen an improvement with in just a matter of days. Thanks for the advice and I have been learning a lot from your blog and Atomic Blogging.

    Thanks Again,
    Jason

    Hi Alvin,

    Great Article.

I have your Atomic Blogging. I think it has helped me a log, but I am still working on getting it implemented.

I have spent too much time and money on too many new things. I am learning more about the focus part. I am using article submission but it is slow.

I’ve been through the “learning and failing” and the spending phase. I am ready
    for the making phase.

By the way 60s is not old. -:)

    Thanks,

    Lonnie

  12. Great use of a story to make your point. This is so true. I am still working at making a decent amount from online money making. So far is haven’t made all that much but i do know what you are saying.

    Great post!
