Boy oh boy, this has been a really bad week for me. Lots of happen since I was away and one of them was I had well over 4,000+ emails compiled up from my 9 day trip holiday during Taiwan I just managed to clear 3,000 only after reading them for 8 hours. I really do have to apologize if you have email me lately and I did not response is because I really had lots of mails to read
On top of that, I think because of the great food I eaten so much in Taiwan I am currently running a really bad cough too
Anyway as I was reading through all the emails, I realized lots of people have been recently and constantly asking me about traffic and I think it’s real common problem with everyone doing the online business. There are actually many ways you can drive traffic to your blogs but it breaks down to only 3 simple ways and they are BUY, STEAL or ATTRACT traffic.
I will not really recommend people to use the BUY traffic tactic as I know as most novice marketers, they are not willing to spend money to make money so what I normally would recommend is using the STEAL or ATTRACT method.
Stealing Traffic
It may sound a bit sneaky but what stealing traffic simply means is you steal traffic from other people’s website. Most often when you do that it’s free, however anything that is free normally involves lots of effort to see traffic results
For stealing traffic, I would say doing Forum Marketing is one of the most often used method I use to get traffic to my blogs. So how do you go about doing Forum Marketing?
Step 1 - Look For Targeted Forums Related To Your Niche
Time and time again many people who do forum marketing before make a common mistake is they post their threads or comments on forums that is totally not related to what they do online. For instant, if you are in the niche of “selling dog food”, do you think it’s right to get traffic from a cat forum?
Also when searching for forums, you only want to market on forum that have real people in there who post often in the forums. Some signs you can look out for in a good forum with lots of traffic is by looking at the number of members they have in a forum ( a forum with 2,000 members and above is always preferred ). On top of the number of members, you also need to look at the frequency of post and threads been created in the forum, that will give you a fair judgment how popular the forum is.
To start your search on forums you can simply type in Google “your niche +forum”, you can click here for an example on how I find blog related forums. Do note you do not want to market on too much forums at one time, I would recommend not more then 3 forums will do
Step 2 - Start Posting On The Forum Consistently
Those who do forum marketing would know if you want to get results it’s a matter of consistency. You need to post on the forum to actually see traffic results to your blog. No post = No traffic that’s a fact, if you are not getting any traffic from forums it simply means you are not posting enough that’s it
Here’s Some Topic Tips To Help You Off To Post In Forums
- Act really stupid and ask questions related to your niche to people in the forum to attract people to reply
- Created question based topics to generate interest for people to reply
- Ask people to review your blog site and ask for comments and improvements ( This one really gets lots of hits to your blog
) - Reply to a thread topic with a long post to explain points to add on top of his tips to build creditability to yourself
- Submit articles you have written on your blog and post them on forums
In forums, threads that you create will always drop down the topics as time goes by more and more threads will be created and that will push your thread down the chain of threads. The key thing in forum marketing is you always want your thread to be shown in the 1st page. So what can you do to ensure your thread post is always on the 1st page? Well here’s an evil idea for you, you bump up your thread by replying
Step 3 - Bump Your Thread Post Every 30 Minutes
Because in forums threads are sorted most of the time by the latest replies in a forum, your thread topic in a forum will go down really fast especially when it’s a popular forum which means lesser people will be able to read your topic and see your signature box to get traffic. So what I normally do in forum marketing, I would actually go back into my own thread every 30 minutes to bump up my thread post.
Tips On Bumping
The most common form of bumping a post is people simply just reply in the thread with a text “uppzz” which is WRONG! Do not ever do that because most forums owners do not like that from my experience. Here are some valuable tips to help you out to bump your post.
- Response to anyone who post something in your thread by saying thank you
- If no one responses your thread, you can simply post another message to ask people in forum is that anyone else there
- Ask questions to people in the thread to create a discussion amount themselves ( sometimes I am really good at this that I even got people fighting one another and keep on posting in the thread

Great tips alvin! I personally use those tactics before and it really work. For my opinion, building creditability should be the main focus as this can brand yourself as an expert. In fact, people will respect you more and more willing to click on your ’signature’(If you have any URL link in it). By the way, thanks for sharing.
Hi Alvin,
Forum marketing and blog commenting are simple yet very useful. But sometimes it is very hard to find a relevant blog or forum when the
niche topic is too tight and there is too little of supply.
By the way, do you have any blogs that are not in the make money online niche? If yes can you please show me because I really wish to have a case study.
Thank you!
Sheng Loong.
