If you have a blog and realizing that you are not making much income from your blogs. Most likely you would be focusing on the wrong things when you blog. I have recently helped a friend from a no one to now making US$1,000 in his first month and I am really proud of what he achieve because he really worked hard for it.
As a full time marketer, our main role when we do our website is always to find ways to market our product. If you not sure how you may want to take this test here to see where you are now.
There is a saying that content is king, but from my experience it really isn’t as important as compared to getting traffic! Why? Because no point having such great content when no one is reading it. And there are many people out there are lag of one thing and that is traffic.
Traffic is easy to get if you know how to get it, you can get as much as 1,000 hits a day just by spending time on your computer marketing your website. Surprisingly not many people do that and focus on content generating and sitting down wondering why isnt the blog getting traffic.
To effectively get more traffic to your blogs or sites, you will require to market. It is the MOST important element in the business. There are many ways you can get traffic from, search engine, blog networks, social sites to name a few. But the strongest ones that I found are joint venture traffic.
If you serious about making money online, I would highly recommend you take on the quiz here to find out why your blog is not making money for you. I know what I am talking about because I practice what I peach and trust me, always focus on things that make money and stop learning how to reinvent the wheel =)

Congrats again! You’ve come up with one important poin-traffic “thinking”.Thats the part i guess we all get stuck in–marketing.Maybe you want to write a post on marketing sometime alvin?
What’s joint venture traffic ?
I believe its a catch 22. Without decent content you wouldn’t get repeat traffic. But like what Alvin said, without traffic your content is simply wasted in cyberspace. And of course there’s the issue of having targeted traffic rather than mass social traffic.
No offense to the other people who leave comments. But I’ve taken a look at the websites of the people who are top commentators and geez…quite a couple of them have dismal traffic stats. According to Alexa at least. Maybe they should be working on their traffic rather than follow your blog so often Alvin.
Anyhow, I guess its a matter of strategically marketing your content. If you are promoting content on your blog. Be sure to leverage your blog post, submit it to relevant news wires, quickly rewrite it using software (contentspooler, ContentRewriterPro.com etc…) to produce a bunch of unique articles to submit to article directories and avoid the duplicate content penalty. The same can be done for content on static websites.
But like what Alvin mentioned, JVs can produce a horde of traffic. But in my opinion it doesn’t last that long, so its like that NOS boost in cars. Sure enough its great, I love it. For one of my websites, I was averaging 100-200 Optins daily for 1 week before it tapered down to 40-60 optins a day.
That aside, I’ve been noticing that traffic to your blog has been dropping Alvin. As shown on http://alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=www.gathersuccess.com
Will be good to see you experiment on how you would be gathering traffic.

100-200 opt-in… what page is that may I ask.. =P you giving up a FREE Money? =P
Joint venture traffic is basically traffic sent by affiliates to a salescopy to buy stuff… some joint venture has list of range of 500 to sometimes even 10,000 for the matter. Is the traffic good.. YES it’s very good =)
About Alexa Ranking, now a days I dont really care much of it.. but mainly Alexa Ranking is used for marketing purpose… the real truth is that my traffic has been consistent so far.. =) and my other stats are increasing =) Alexa is just one way to check a person’s traffic =) if you do your research right there are other ways to find out the real traffic behind a person’s site =)
Hi Alvin,
Secret pages like this must hide mah. =P But its about giving a free cd, perceived value is much higher then. But of course there’s a S&H charge involved to cover cost.
Yes agree with you Alexa ranking merely for marketing purposes. To tell others you are ranked blablabla. Its really just a rough gauge since you can really game the Alexa system through some software run on multiple browsers.
Glad to know that your traffic through other stats are increasing. =)

But, there’s somethings different between visitors and targeted visitors. Lot of visitors, you got traffic. but, it’s not meaning targeted visitors. Loyal visitors and loyal readers are come from the “quality content”. And I thinks as a blogger, most of you looking for the loyal readers/targeted visitors.
ai yo.. so secret for what… chance to promote your page more.. you dont want.. haha =)
I dont know you guys realized it.. I dont keep secrets and reveal almost everything I do =P
I realized by doing this it builds lots of creditability with your visitors..
well it really depends again what is your marketing tactic if you want loyal visitor content is important but you want just huge exposure is another angle of marketing =)
Hi Alvin,
Thanks for the tip. But the reason is that the traffic on your blog is not related to that niche. Its a non-IM niche and very rather specialized. Thats why. So exposing it has more cons than pros. =)
Certainly agree with you on that point. Providing people with the best information available gets them coming back for more. Eban Pagan (aka David DeAngelo) of doubleyourdating.com just recently talked about it.
For those interested, can check out his videos at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k51vFkjtf3g
As for secrets, I most certainly reveal them on my blog.

now I know why you targeting the keyword web marketing strategies.. sure is a good way you did to get people to your blog.. haha =P
Hi other alvin, no offence since I’ve just realised I’ve become top commentator and do have dismal traffic ! But for someone who had no idea what a “blog” was 5 months ago, pecentage-wise, my increase in traffic has been phenomenal. Nothing up from zero would be phenomenal !! I’m thrilled google has found me at all !
And maybe we’re here reading this blog to learn ? Some stuff you discuss is way over beginner’s heads and p’raps someone who has thick skin and doesn’t mind looking dumb who asks the questions can help those who chance on this blog and want to learn.
I’ll try to keep quiet … or maybe Alvin can just stop approving my comments so I don’t rank so high !
Hey Karen.. no no no.. I not saying you cannot comment please comment more.. =)
The reason I put the top 10 comment there.. is because.. I want people to comment more.. haha
Hi Karen,
Its good that your new blog is gathering traffic. I noticed that your blog is on a blogspot. You might want to register a domain and install wordpress if you are in for the long term. Otherwise you would be building something that isn’t truly yours. Alvin Phang’s atomic blogging provides very easy step-by-step instructions on how to get everything setup if you are not that tech savvy. You’ll learn much more and faster that way. =)
Haha as for the stuff i discuss, thats because I’m not catering to the newbie crowd.
On a sidenote, I would suggest comparing your blog to better ones. Push yourself harder to improve. At least thats how I personally think we as a human race improve. But of course everyone has their own way of approaching life.
And you shouldn’t stop commenting as Alvin Phang mentioned. If you have something to ask or whatever you should just do that. It was merely an observation that I happened to mention.
Regards,
Alvin Huang
Hi Alvins,
I did try atomic blogging. How do you think I found this blog ? Tried to sell Acne Free In 3 Days cos that fit AB’s criteria of a product ! After a while, the articles I wrote were boring me to tears. I even joined a forum support thingy and the people being sad about acne just about sealed the death sentence for my blog. How do you drum up enough enthusiasm to keep running blogs for all kinds of stuff ? ( I presume this blog isn’t your only source of income).
This Post is very old, over a year now but I still shear your view, traffic is the King and nit the content.Thanx for that.
