    Hi Alvin,

I am a newbie to this business of online marketing. I am planning to start a website and wondered what are the advantages of setting up a blog. Why Blogs would be a good topic to start with. I do like the idea that a blog is interactive and that seems to be one of the main advantages. Would monetizing be better than a website? What have you found as an advantage and why did you specialize in blogging? Do blogs rank as high on the search engines? Has blogs changed the internet scene? I am looking forward to learning from your knowledge as I am sure is the rest of the world!! Keep us updated!

    Hi Alvin

Publishing a book for absolute beginners is a fantastic idea. My suggestion for you to consider are:
1 As a new blogger, a step-my-step guide with screen shots would be really great as I could refer to the steps.
2 I would like to learn how to personalise my blog.
3 Through your training course, I am now able to get people to subscribe to my blog. How do I retrieve their email?
4 How to send the incentive ie free book to the subscriber?
5 A comprehensive guide book which is not super thick ie easy on the eyes and light to carry around.
Look forward to the published book soon!
    Best of luck!

    Hi Alvin,

Thanks so much for this opportunity – My main question has to do with what are the possibilites/drawbacks to having a book published from a succesful blog, i.e. if your blog is super succesful and a publisher offers a book deal on said blog? What happens to the comments: Would they have to be included, would the people commenting be reimbursed, etc?

All the very best with your book! MC

  17. marku says:

    Hi Alvin,
very nice of you to donate your earnings with your first book on blogging.
Reading such a book I would like to know how much more practical information about these topics:
    - How to customize your blog so that it becomes attractive to readers
    - How can I make it visible on the Internet
    - How can detarmina readers to leave comments

I have seen / read books about blogging but most are focused on theory, philosophy of blogging, not practical. Maybe I have not found the best books / magazines on the topic, but … this is what I would expect from a new book on blogging. To be practical, not theoretical. Case studies. Examples (positive and negative). Approach.

    Good luck with your book.

    Happy New Year!

  24. Wayne Sharer says:

    Hey Alvin,

If I were writing a start to finish book on blogging, I would make sure I start at the very beginning.

In my teleseminars, I found that way too many people start without knowing what niche they are even marketing in. Or, they start in a niche they love, and there really isn’t much of a chance of real profit.

So it is vital the the book explains, in the natural flow of building there business, exactly where to begin. Then flow through the process so it people don’t “spin their wheels” doing nothing profitable.

    Heres’ what I see…

    1. Must teach how to choose a niche including…
Choosing the the niche, basic keyword research, choosing a business model, determining profitability of the niche, if there really is traffic gathering online in the niche, if the niche is seasonal, importance of a self hosted niche website.

    2. How to choose a proper domain name
    3. How to choose a web host
    4. How to connect your domain to your host
    5. How to install your blog software
    6. How to install plugins
7 Essential plugins to have installed before you start blogging
    8. Choosing a theme that will keep your readers reading – before you start blogging
    9. Connecting your blog for traffic – installing automated backlinking and bookmarking system BEFORE you start blogging. Includes basics of setting up on Twitter and other social networks
    10. How to create content including importance of keyword focus, importance of paragraph structure, how to find good ideas for content
    11. How to step up your traffic once all of this is done
12 Importance of Article Marketing as a primary, long term traffic source
    13. Developing additional traffic sources
    14. Secrets of using RSS
    15. Adding video to your blog and blog traffic
    16. Using podcasts for your blog and blog traffic
    17. Monetizing your blog
    18. Most profitable money sources on your blog
    19. Building your list with your blog (maybe this should be moved up to #11
    20. Selecting most profitable affiliate products
    21. How to write reviews of products that will sell
    22. Content styles that attract traffic and targeted readers, as well as in bound links

Well I’ve run out of time. But that’s a fairly complete list, close to the right order to include in start to success blogging book

  27. Great idea to write a book, Alvin! I would like to see a lot of step-by-step, how-to information.

    3. Pros and cons of hosted vs self-hosted blogs
    4. Description of security measures to take
    5. Plug-in recommendations

    Alvin

Most of the topics that would and should be in any good book on blogging have been listed already but I would just suggest one thing becuase you do seem honest-just please keep it real! Make sure people understand that most of what they read and are told by the gurus is hype and they may never make a dime. People also need to understand that they need to work and work. Explain what autoblogging is versus the real thing. No easy answers and no easy money.

    • JB says:

      Hi Sharon

I dont think what we read from the gurus are lies, hyped a bit maybe. but the steps/tips give can really make you money. juts that, they didnt tell that you need to do it a lot of time to make that much :P

      • Linky Love says:

Sharon is almost right: the gurus only tell white lies like:
I made 1000 dollar in revenue in one day, not saying that they spend 1000 dollar on marketing.
I made 3000 dollar in 3 days, not telling that they just promoted a new product to their mailing list.

All true and no lies, but utterly misleading for newbees.
