A Secret Tip To Help You
Alvin Phang
del.icio.us it! | reddit it! | stumble it!

Hey it’s 12:57AM now as I am writing this post, although you see it appear at 10:00 today that because in wordpress we can set timings to when we want to post =P

From my experience, which I know that 70% of my visitors are Singaporeans. If you have noticed I always post my stuff at 10:00am Singapore Time. There is a simple reason to that. Example 90% of Singaporeans work a 9 to 5 job right?

During weekends, what would you normally do? Will you check your emails? Yeah maybe but not that often right? So when do you think is the time people do check emails? Monday?

From my own research, I realized the best time in any country to do a email blast, update of website or anything that can broadcast is during Tuesday 9am to 12pm. Do you want to know why?

The reason is very simple, during the weekend when most people are enjoying themselves they leave their email to compound up until Monday morning when they are back to work. On Monday morning, most people will only read that emails that came in on the weekends. And most likely new task are given on Mondays or Fridays of the week.

So Tuesday morning, would be a better time to email people stuff as their Inbox is all read emails. And I did try this simple test, when I do a blast at Tue or Wed mornings. I did receive more visitors reading the email then other days. Weekends in my experience at the worst days to email people.

Some may disagree with me, as different markets and different websites may vary. But I thought it maybe good to let you know this is what I experience =)

Anyway, thanks guys for being active in my new forum. I am very surprised in just 4 days we had over 40 post already with over 20 members! That’s what I call fast! And the MyBlogLog Widget is viral like crazy. For those that are in the widget you will realized something in your ranking in somewhere I cant say but go check =P

Hi Alvin,

Thanks for sharing your experience on the best times to update a blog. It’s something I’ve wondered about, but haven’t found time to test out. Great idea to alter the time in wordpress - I might have to try that;)

One problem is that working out the best times for me to post may be a little more tricky, as I’m currently in China but most of my readers are in the UK or USA, so both 8 hours behind and 8 hours ahead!

Thanks,

Michelle

I actually read the tuesday thing also somewhere else. Except this was the best time to place an ad that would actually be seen. I guess the same is true of sending out emails AND updating your blog. Thanks for the tip!
