Hi Alvin,

I'm new to IM and I find that if a certain product is popular then most of the time PPC campaigns are already set up for that and it would cost a lot to compete.

 If you want to setup a site to target that product using pure seo, it would probably take a long time and there maybe too many websites to compete.

Any ideas you want to share?

Hi Alvin,

Frankly speaking, I can see that you are very passionate about the topic of IM and really want to give value to the market place. You are working very hard I can see

Having said that, the topic about teaching business owner to use blog in generating leads and sales is not news. Quite many IMarketer has covered the ground and not many of them create a big wave.

One mean reason is that majority of business owners are not willing to put in time and effort to write their business blog regularly with good value information. Writing is simply not the interest of many business owners.

Furthermore there are so many gurus that people can choose from to learn about the various topic in internet marketing. Unless one can come from a very unique angles, it is a tought game to play for newcomers wanting to create a name for themselves in this highly competitive industry.

One good approach is to first established yourself very successful in a non internet marketing industry using internet marketing. Make lots of money in that industry and make a name for yourself. One you have done that, tell the world about your success story and give the proof. When you have that, many people to serious pay attention to what you are going to teach them about internet marketing.

Good example are like:

- Frank Kern who prove his worth in non IT industry like his parrot site and many others

- John Reese about his success stories in various industries before he comes into the IM industry

- the late Corey Rudl about his car secrets site

- Rosalind Gardner about her online dating service review site

etc

These people have prove their worth and when they speak, people give give them their ears.

Alvin, you are a good person and I believe you can use your IM knowledge and skills in non IM business and make a name for yourself. Prove to yourself and the world that you know how to apply the skills into non IM industry and make good money with that. When you succeed there and you come into the IM money making industry, it will be a lot easier for you to make a name.

I personally know of people who know a lot about IM but they simply did use the knowledge and skills to make a good income. It is very sad to see that, it is really a waste. They are people with good and rich knowledge in IM but financial very poor or broke.

Alvin, I sincerely hope you will make good income with what you know..really good constant income that will create a good living.

Hi Alvin,

I think I know where you are getting into. Infact I am very aware of the market I am targeting now is very competitive.

I am now in the process of venturing into another bigger market to show people how to generate leads for their business by using blogs.

I realized many website owners who do business have a lot of things they can do in their business but they are not doing it right.

Hi Alvin

The reason why I write here is becos I read your story earlier on (about three weeks ago) and I know that you are determined to succeed.

Usually I do not bother to write at forum and other blog because I notice one common things in successful online business owners is that they do not spend much of their time on others' blog and forum. They do visit them by understanding their market and to know what are the hot topics in the market place so that they can better serve and target them.

Alvin, you may like about this. I sense that the market that you are targetting current are very competitive and many people in this market are not buying much. They are seeking free information. Therefore very little money to be made for new comers.

A better target may be the people who are currently in sales or have a business and seriously want to learn about how to use the internet to help them gain more prospects, clients and sales.

Many people (not all) who don't have a real business yet are just seeing how to use the IM to make money without having any business idea or willing to do the real work. They treat IM as just a another business opportunities to make a few dollars here and there. (like how many people treat MLM). It is very sad.

To become successful, people should stop seeking business opportunitie but to spend them learn and build a real business. IM can certainly be real good business provided the person do the real work and not just continue to dream on, talk at forum etc. Like in any industry, there will only be 20% of the people actually do the work and become successful, 80% of them will just dreamers and you will see them any more as they will move on to seek another money making opportunity.

I see this not just in IM industry, but also in other industry that I previously involved and currently doing.

Hi Alvin

Frankly speaking marketing on the internet is not much different from direct respond marketing in the offline world. Except that with internet, it makes marketing a lot more efficient and cost a lot a lesser (and most of the time free).

To become successful in marketing on the internet, like any business, there are a few basic things one need to do right.

And when one do it right, even without knowing how to do the fancy stuff like SEO, getting top rank on google by playing the search engine game, creating flashing graphic banners, adding audio and video etc, one can make making good income by using the internet to market his business.

The fundamental things are:

- providing real valuable information to educate people about the topic related to the industry (much be something that close to their heart). The key is to educate and not to sell them.

- write to them as if you are talking to them as your friend

- focus on building relationship thru your writing and sharing on the internet. (People buy from people they trust and like. There are many goo books on the topic e.g. books by Tom Hopkin and Zig Ziglar)

- Always offer good information (e.g. reports. ebook) in exchange for their contact so that you can comunicate with them regularly and build trust and relationship. You will have unlimited opportunty to market to them when you have their contact so long as they like your sharing on the internet and stay on your list)

- Hard working and take action (too many people learn and talk, but little or no action)

- never give up (there is no failure except failure to act)

One need not have beautiful and fancy web site with all kind of whistler and bells to make buy. There are many plain looking and sometime even ugly formatted site that attract a lot of people to their site and make lots of good money for the business owner. E.g of a plain looking site but make lots of money are one of the later Gary Halbert at http://www.thegaryhalbertletter.com/

Some highlight recommend marketing experts that I'd recommend anyone who want to become successful in online and offline marketing:

- Dan Kennedy
- Jay Abraham
- Brian Tracy
- Brad Sugars
- John Reese (TrafficSecrets.com)

Whether it is offline or online business, one must get the basic things right first in order to succeed. There are always fundamental success factors that apply to all kind of business. Without getting them right, no matter how much one do the other fancy stuff, the person will not succeed in a big way.

Hey Michael,
<br\>
Thanks for your honest response.
<br\>
I dont really get your question but I think I know what you are asking. From my experience in IM, I noticed since the World Internet Summit, more and more Singaporeans especially are going into Internet Marketing.
<br\>
There are many Gurus will teach you how to sell their products and some will teach you how to sell niches.
<br\>
The truth is, if you are to go with Niche and non internet related niches, your competition playing field will not be as big when you are trying to market a IM product.
<br\>
Just imagine if you are promoting a IM product, the people who are looking for these IM products maybe newbies but there are a another set of them who are smart marketers they can copy what you do and recreate another similar product.
<br\>
Although I am a Asian myself, it kind of sad but it quite a true fact. Especially my own country man, THEY DO NOT LIKE to support their own country man. They prefer to be taught by a foreign country trainer then their own people.
<br\>
Some of you may not agree, but my click bank commission checks proofs it.. as I have more customers from Overseas then my own country man =(
<br\>
There is friend of mine who is specially in niche marketing, and he is very good at it... you can check it out at www.GatherSuccess.com/go/zack .
<br\>
Zack is very close friend of mine online, and I want to stop him from releasing this because he is really exposing all his secrets that he even put up some of his niche examples in the product =P
<br\>
I hope this will answer your questions, hear from you soon.

Alvin

I don't mean to be rude. Since 8 years ago when I first starting study and learn about internet marketing, many internet marketing experts advice people DO NOT sell internet marketing related products or services. Interestingly there are more new people coming into the internet marketing industry every day and at the same this same group of people advice others not to go into in IM industry.

Would you like to comment on that?

Honestly I feel that there are still lots of money can be made in the niche internet marketing sector e.g. targeting at Asian market

There are a lot of hype on the web about internet marketing. If one can come out and share how he has really use IM into a non IM market, trust me, a lot of people will be listening and reading his stuff. This is another niche of IM that not many internet marketers are doing and I believe there are money to be made here.
