If you have been hearing from friends or neighbors that people are making money online and still quite skeptical about it. Well I will be very frank with you it’s 100% truth! However, only 10% of the hundreds of people starting online business every day succeed. If you like to know what they did, I would recommend you take some paper or open a note pad to take down some notes.

The myth about people making online is very real! From my 16 months of experiencing marketing online and making a nice living now from it many online marketers would always buy books or courses to learn from. In fact even I myself started reading courses online before I actually knew how people make money online. Most of the time I would using my guide book as the stepping stone to remind me of the process involved before I even get start making money online.

Step 1 - Find Out What You Like Best

Before you even start finding out niches or things you want to sell you have to list down at least 10 hobbies or interest that you have currently. PLEASE DO NOT miss this important step as it totally changed my life after I did just this simple work. When you fill up this list of 10 things you love to do the most you would instantly know what is your strong points and every individual have their own strong points.

Step 2 - Do A Research Online

There are many online research tools you can find online and some even require you to pay a premium to find out what people are looking for online. However lots of people made lots of mistake when it comes to keyword research. Keyword research cannot be done in just one day, normally a proper keyword research will take about 3 full days to complete. I often would use this free tool to check on the search phrases and demand online.

Also because the data collected is not 100% accurate and some even say it’s useless as many SEO experts would agree but at least there is some form of references you can compare online. The free tool shown just now will actually show you what is the keyword demand that people are looking for online. So let’s say we type in Internet Marketing , you will find a demand of over 178,835 search per month in Overture’s network and a competition of 392,000,000 for the term Internet Marketing. Some SEO Experts claim that is the wrong way to search as it’s a broad term search. Some SEO Experts would just use “Internet Marketing” then Internet Marketing to search for competition online, however I find it strange to do that as most often who would type in “Internet Marketing” in Google? Not really many I must say.

Because of that reason I always use normal phrase to search for competition to find really good niches with little competition to feed the demand online.

Step 3 - Feet The Need

Once you have found a keyword that has high demand and low competition, you would know exactly what type of need people need online. And all you need to do is go to networks like Clickbank or CJ to find products to feed those need.

Here are just some of the HOTTEST niches online
1. Sex
2. Vigra
3. Gambling
4. Real Estate
5. Loans
6. Make Money Online

You will noticed most of the niches online are pretty much what human real need are. Although it is not widely said online but it’s no doubt that Sex is the No.1 niche market on the Internet. You will be suprised the amount of money generate for both Sex and Gambling itself it’s HUGE!

Step 4 - Generate Traffic And List

As a full time blogger and internet marketer, I found out that using blogs and squeeze page are the two most powerful tools you can use to grab leads online. This blog you are reading is generating over 10 to 20 leads per day! That’s CRAZY if you ask me. Why are leads important? For one simple reason, you need customers to communicate with so that you can update them with the latest products and services

Step 5 - Focus And Create A Game Plan

Many people fail to make money online because they lack to focus their attention online and it can be easily distracting especially when you are running your business at home where your bed is SO CLOSE to you.. haha. It takes lots of patience actually to see some form of results when you start your online business. I remember my first cheque I got online was only $17.80, although it was small but that money earn did not require me to be around to do say as I really hate off line sales talk.

If you are new to Alexa, you would know that it’s a popular tool that many bloggers online used to see how well a website performs online. Ranked based on a number from 1 to 1,000,000, the website which has the lowest number ranked would be the have the highest amount of traffic.

The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). As a first step, Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis.

The main Alexa traffic rank is based on the geometric mean of these two quantities averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users). The three-month change is determined by comparing the site’s current rank with its rank from three months ago. For example, on July 1, the three-month change would show the difference between the rank based on traffic during the first quarter of the year and the rank based on traffic during the second quarter.

How can you get started using the Alexa tool bar?

One of the best tools I normally use on my browsers would be using the SEOquake tool that can be found here. It works really well with Internet Explorer and Firefox.

I would highly recommend you use FireFox instead of Internet Explorer as it seems that FireFox runs faster =)

Why Having More Alexa Juice Is Important?

For a very strong reason because Alexa helps to determine prices of your text links when it comes to ad networks online. Ad networks like Text Link Ads, TNX & Sponsored Reviews all use Alexa Ranking to determine the price of your links.

Having Said That Here Are Way You Can Get Higher Alexa Rankings For Your Blog, do note some of the ideas below can be crazy but you can give it a shot =)

1. Visit social sites like blogcatalog and ask them to review your blog. Because most of the people at that community mainly are tech savvy they would have Alexa tool bar installed.

2. Get a group of friends to install the Alexa Toolbar and bookmark your blog as their home page in their browser

3. Talk about how useful Alexa is about to encourage your loyal readers to install them to give you more rank power from Alexa.

4. Refreshing your browser many times a day with your tool bar ( I am not too sure how well this works as it claims that Alexa counts votes based on IP address)

5. Set your blog as your default home page in your browser

6. Start some form of contest to ask your readers to refer friends to your blog but put a condition that must use the toolbar to visit your blog. You can easily do this with integrated affiliate programs that you can buy online. One such program I would recommend would be PostAffiliate

7. If you happen to be the IT administrator of your company or you know the person very well, get him to install the tool bar on all computer terminals and set your blog as the default. ( Caution this would create lots of awareness of your doings online.. haha )

8. Go to webmaster forums like digital point and talk about topics related to Alexa as readers from there tend to love content related to Alexa and would visit your blog to give comment which in return gives you some rank power.

9. Outsource a programmer to do up a plug in where you can freely distribute to your readers to increase exposure of your blog. However at the copyright column you insert a link direct to your Alexa link back url which looks like http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.gathersuccess.com . Replace gathersuccess.com with your website.

10. Post comments on popular blogs with your Alexa back link url when filling in the comment form.

11. Change your profile on your myBlogLog to link to your blog to a Alexa redirect link to your blog to get more Alexa juice.

12. Optimized your post to allow people to click on other of your posts on your blog with your Alexa redirect link.

13. Pay forum people who sells their signatures links and post your Alexa redirect link to your blog.

14. Use PPC Campaigns to pay your way to get more traffic to your blogs with your redirect link

15. Setup Solo Ad Campaigns with a list of 500 or more which cost about US$20 each and advertise your blog with your Alexa redirect link

16. Show off your rankings of Alexa with widgets. Recommend use the ShowOffRankings widgets which you can see it on my blog.

17. Visit people’s profiles in myBlogLog daily up to 5 profiles and say Hi to them and ask them to review your blog using your Alexa redirect link.

18. Write a report why people should install Alexa toolbar.

19. Education people how useful Alexa Tool bar by tell your readers that you can use it to determine people’s traffic patterns.

20. Buy banner and links from other blogs to promote your blog with your Alexa redirect link

Before I explain how you can build links, here’s a simple explanation what links are. Basically links are websites that actually gives you a referral by putting a link on their page to refer to your site.

The more links you have the more exposure your website has. Building links is the most important element when it comes to getting traffic.

Imagine there are 1,000 over people linking to your website, all these are free traffic to your site. The fastest and most effective way I build links is by writing real solid content post on my blog.

However posting on blog is just the 1st part of building links, You will still require to market your links. Very often I would use Atomic Blogging as my main tool and also what I will do next is attack forums or newsgroup to get traffic to the blog post.

It worked really well for me and it proofs to get tons of free targeted traffic from these medium.

Building Links From MyBlogLog

I am a fan of MyBlogLog and I can say it’s the best blogging tool I always use to get traffic to my site. From a small community of only 100, it has grown now to a size of 400! What I would normally do with MyBlogLog is I would actually post to visitors who came my blog a message to invite them to view a post on my blog.

From testing and tweaking, I realized that most bloggers who read a post with great content will most likely will post the same article into their blog too. That’s where people normally say that Content is KING! It truly is especially if the content came directly from your own writing, this builds great creditability for you and your website.

I learnt this from first hand experience and I thought I share some insides of some things I learnt recently. Here are 3 good tips you should not do when you do online marketing

1. Never do tons of self promotions on your website or emails.

I learnt this is the hard way when sometimes I tend to promote too much of myself and get negative response from people. So never try to promote yourself too many times.

But also there will be at times you still need to or else no one will know what services or products you offer. I was shocked when I got emails coming in with no idea what products I have. Thus, it still ok once in a while to market your own products.

However, the good thing about this you can actually filter away all those people who are hunting down for free stuff from you and get more qualified people viewing your stuff. As only loyal readers or customers will still stick to you even if you pitch to them.

A good freq of doing this is every 10 email or blog post I sent out I will promote only about 2 to 4 times. The rest of them are pure solid content stuff.

2. Never mass email your list too much

If you are on my mailing list, you know I like to send out tons of email everyday to my readers. I do get complains once in a while stating I sent out lots of email as I sent them out basically almost everyday.

Here are some of my findings of my experience, surprisingly because I sent it out everyday. I get a higher frequency of people coming back to my blog everyday as I blog more and more on my blog.

There will be people who decide not to read and decided to opt-out but it is also a good thing as this will filter away people who just want a free ride.

Because what you targeting for are real qualified readers and customers to your website which will be more open minded when they see you are trying to promote something.

A great way I sent out emails to my list is one time in the morning and one more time in the evening. Testing out your titles will also make it a good way to grab targeted viewers to view your stuff.

3. Never try to hide too much from your customers

If you been a reader of my blog, you know that I am a person who does not hide anything. And I find it’s rather strange that there are many people online who tend to be experts in their fields do not really share much of their knowledge and experience when they do talks or promote online.

Most people I know always advise me not to expose too much information to my customers and even talk about too much detail on some topics which they normally categorized it as some great secret.

The truth is, there is NO SUCH THING as secret now a days. I know it’s hard for you to believe this but there really isn’t any dark secret on how people make money online. They just want to make an impression there is because they want to sell you their secrets!

Although it’s not highly recommended to openly share everything you know, but this is my own believe. The more a person tries to help someone or his customers, the more trust there will be between the reader and the business owner.

It’s sad but it is also kind of truth but being too honest sometimes does have a great disadvantage. Some people may think you are not sure of what you are doing or some people will think hey it’s too simple to believe it’s that simple.

Most of the stuff you see on my blog are actually not planned. And until today I still do that because if I do plan it, what happen is that the writing will not be natural. To keep things easy and honest I always try to talk things openly and give the best honest response to my readers.

I realized by doing this, although I get a small percentage of attention from people BUT I get tons of great referrals and customers referring what knowledge I have to share with them which is PRICELESS.

I can be unethical and keep everything to myself but I still believe in long term, what I am doing now will surely one day bring back 10 times of what I currently have. So I hope this article explains pretty much what I want to achieve in the future.

Many has seen it done before in 30 days, 7 days and some even 2 hours! But the real secret which I feel how they did it because they understand numbers!

In my niche of selling digital product or physical products, selling online is all about numbers. The more people who see your product the higher chance you can sell your products more. So my own goal at first was to make a Million Dollar in 2010.

Many people say that the money is in the list, it is really TRUTH and here are some examples how people can make a Million dollars really FAST!

Example of a Ebook selling at US$47.00
Sold to a list of 100,000 with only 1% conversion that’s 1,000 customers
1,000 x $47 = $47,000

Example of a Home Study Course at US$497.00
Sold to a list of 100,000 with only 1% conversion that’s 1,000 customers
1,000 x $497 = $497,000 (That’s Half A Million)

Do you get the picture? Building a list is important but numbers do not really count unless they are your responsive customers in your list. And I see many people who are online are NOT building a list! They are just showing stuff and not doing anything about it.

And what is scarier because it’s online and normally online e-books and programs have affiliate programs, you can even earn more from building an army of people promoting your product for you.

Example of a list of 1,000 customers which only about 100 people sign up as an affiliate.
One Affiliate has maybe about 100 emails
100 Affiliates = 100 x 100 = 10,000 More Customers!

So what you seen here is what I call the Internet Marketing Trade Secret which I think there isn’t any blogger or Internet Marketer crazy enough to show you this but that’s how Internet Business makes money. It’s the list!
