When it comes to selecting a laptop, it is important to ask yourself these few questions first.

What are you using this laptop for?

Are you playing games on them?

Is a touch screen important to you?

Are you traveling with it?

In this guide, I will walk you through what my recommendations are and the reasons behind them, as I been asked many times by my friends, so I thought I would write this article to address them. There are only three brands of laptops that I recommend to all my friends and they are Acer, Lenovo and Asus. Each brand has its strengths and weaknesses but is a simple breakdown of my thoughts of individual brands.Acer LaptopsGenerally, Acer does not spend a lot of advertising and focus on giving consumers the most value for money when it comes to specs VS price. For example, a model that cost SGD$1,000 might have only 8GB of RAM in other brands but ACER gives more value by giving 16GB for the same price, which allows you to open more windows and applications on your WindowsLenovo and Asus LaptopsGenerally, these two brands are the ones I recommend for corporate users or people who want reliability for their laptops. Not that Acers laptops do not last long, but generally the laptops of these two brands use stronger materials on their laptops with heavy metal, as Acer tend ot use plastic, keeping it lightweight in most models.Brands I Would Avoid

DELL ( known to not last long as they have a history or using used parts to make their laptops in the past )

HP ( expensive and low value for same price you get higher specs in other brands )

Fujitsu ( expensive and low value )

Things To Know Before You Buy A LaptopWindows 10 or 11 requires at least 4GB or RAM to run the operating system. So if purchase a laptop with only 8GB RAM you would not be able to open many applications to work on. So it always recommended to get at least 16GB RAM when you looks for specs for your laptop.Recommended Minimum Specs, Regardless of Brands

CPU : Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 and above

AI CPU: Intel Ultra 5 or AMD Ryzen™ AI 5 340

RAM: At least 16GB and above

Screen size: 14inch or 16inch

Weight: 1.2kg to 2kg max

Operating System: Windows 10 or 11

Hardisk: At least 512GB and Above

Touch Screen: Optional depend on your needs

My Current Top Recommendation That I Am Using

World’s Lightest 16inch OLED laptop by Acer only 2.71lb ( 1.22kg )

Model: Acer Swift Edge 16 SFE16-44-R8HM

Amazon Link here

My Alternative Top Pick with Big ScreenAmazon Link hereLG gram 17” Lightweight Laptop, Intel 13th Gen Core i7 Evo Platform, Windows 11 Home, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Black. The advantage of this model, is it’s big 17inch screen and lightest of the laptop.Other Recommended Acer Models To Check Out On Shopee Singapore

Acer Swift Go 14 - Intel Ultra 5 - 16GB Ram

Acer Swift Go 14 - Ryzen AI 5 - 16GB Ram

For Office or Company Use Laptop RecommendationLenovo recommendations

Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 or 5 - Intel i7 - 16GB

Lenovo Ideapad Slim AMD R7 - 16GB

Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 - AMD 7 - Touch Screen

Asus recommendations

Asus Zenbook 14 Ultra 9 - 32GB Ram

If Budget is Not A Concern, You Want The Best of the BestAmazon Links Below:

ASUS Zenbook DUO Laptop, Dual 14” OLED 3K 120Hz Touch Display, Evo, Intel Core Ultra 9 285H

Mavark New Yoga Book 9i 2-in-1 2.8K Dual Screen OLED Touch Laptop Ultra 7 155U

Shopee Links Below:

ASUS Zenbook 14 Duo/UX8406 ASUS Dual Screen Laptop
